In addition to 'Gold, Silver, Bronze' 'High Distinction' awards (see 'Judging Guidelines') each year WASMEx gives out several perpetual (annual) awards. In all cases, except where indicated below, the awards are determined by the judging panel.
The list of perpetual annual awards is as follows:
Best in Show - Senior
Best in Show - Intermediate (13 to 17)
Best in Show - Junior (12 and under) AKA The Vickridge Family Award
People's Choice (Determined by popular vote)
People's Choice Club Display (Determined by popular vote)
Best Collective Build
Best Australian Subject
Best Royal Australian Air Force Subject
Best Royal Australian Navy Subject
Best Australian Army Subject
Best US Navy Subject - AKA The 'Tailhook' award
Best RAF Subject
Showcase Challenge - An award for the best model within a theme. The theme for 2025 is 'Racing Cars'
Each of these awards are associated with a handsome trophy that the winner notionally holds for one year until the next WASMEx. Please note that in order to simplify logistics WASMEx maintains physical possession of each trophy throughout the year.
In addition to these annual awards the WASMEx committee - from time to time - can admit individuals to the 'W.A. Modeller's Hall of Fame'. Hall of Fame admission is awarded to individuals who have made a significant, positive contribution to the W.A. scale modelling scene. This can be either through displaying the very highest standards in the art / craft of modelling or through making a sustained, positive contribution to the W.A. scale modelling community. Admission to the 'Hall of Fame' is generally made at the WASMEx annual prizegiving.
