About WASMEx
The Western Australian Scale Model Exposition (WASMEx) is a public exposition of scale modelling in Western Australia. It is an annual event and is an opportunity for anyone within the hobby - beginner to expert - to display their work and for any interested member of the public to see what the hobby has to offer. A trip to WASMEx makes for a great, low-cost family outing with something to interest everyone. We would love to see you at WASMEx 2021 in the first weekend of May.
Background
WASMEx started in the year 2000 and remains the state's premier scale modelling event. Incorporating the WA Scale Modelling Championships, the Expo features an extensive public model competition including displays by local clubs and individual enthusiasts, a swap-and-sell, retail stands by major hobby shops and specialist retailers, and more. Here you will see two halls of outstanding scale model creations and display pieces as built by some of the most talented scale modellers in the state. Hundreds of model aeroplanes, tanks, cars, ships, figures, science fiction subjects and just about anything else you can think of will be on display. It is a non-profit event run purely in the interests of furthering the hobby of scale modelling.
Competition
A large competition for scale models is held during the Expo and is open to everyone. With more than 40 categories spread over three age groups there is bound to be a division to suit your age, interest and choice of scale. The competition is open to everyone - you do not have to be a club member to enter - and there are junior categories for younger modelers. There are lots of trophies and some great prizes to be won so why not join in the fun?
For more information see here.
Swap and Sell
A modellers' swap meet is held on the Sunday morning of the Expo. The Swap and Sell is one of the highlights of the event with a wide variety of models, equipment and reference books at knock-down prices. For the astute shopper there are bargains galore, alternatively you can use this as an opportunity to thin out your stash of unbuilt kits.

Exhibiting your models
Are you an individual modeller with something to show off? Why not become a part of the Exhibition and put your models on display for everyone to admire?
Perhaps your club pursues a hobby other than plastic scale modelling but would still like to participate in WASMEx? We do like to offer a touch of variety every year however we place a limit on the number of clubs with other interests in order to maintain the focus on our core hobby. Contact WASMEx for further details.
Organization
WASMEx is organised by the WASMEx committee, a small and dedicated group of hard working enthusiasts. All Western Australian modelling clubs are invited to have representation on the committee and therefore no one club can claim ownership of the event. Interested individuals - non club members -are also on the committee. WASMEx inc. is a non-profit organisation run by entirely by volunteers solely for the benefit of the Western Australian modelling community. If you would like to contribute in any way - especially if you would like to join the committee - please feel free to contact the secretary.
